Sun: Our sun has a mean distance from earth of about 93,000,000 miles, and a diameter of about 864,000 miles (a little more than a hundred times that of Earth).
The sun is a very active body, changing noticeably by the hour.
For scale, I have added a white circle about the relative size of earth in the blackness in the lower right hand corner; click on the photo to toggle between the photo with and without that "Earth."
I had not taken a photo of the sun this year, so I took this. Nothing particularly dramatic is happening, but I always find all the structure on the sun to be fascinating, and I like the prominences.
